DETROIT – Metro Detroit’s longest drive-through holiday light display is back on Edward Hines Drive in Westland.
The Wayne County Lightfest is celebrating its 32nd year as a festive takeover of the popular scenic drive west of Detroit proper. The drive-through display opened Thursday, Nov. 20 and will run through Christmas Eve,
The route stretches nearly seven miles from Merriman Hollow Park to the intersection of Hines and Outer Drive. Along the way, festive light displays stand on either side of the one-way road or flash overhead in dizzying arches.
The route includes more than 100,000 lights on hundreds of separate displays, depicting everything from Santa’s workshop to golfers, a Yeti and characters from “The Grinch Who Stole Christmas” and ’60s holiday specials.
