OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) - Nebraska Medicine helps tens of thousands of patients every year, but one unique facility on campus can’t be found anywhere else.
Nestled away on Nebraska Med’s campus is a modest home with a kitchen, dining room, and office. The one-of-a-kind vision center is designed to help people with low vision learn to navigate daily activities.
“This is a facility dedicated to helping people explore adaptive equipment that can make it easier for them to go about doing day-to-day things,” said Dr. Shepherd.
Twila Westercamp has macular degeneration and said she has lost a lot of vision. Doing day-to-day activities became challenging, but one trip to the mailbox changed her life.
