COVINGTON, Tenn. (WMC) - A 9-year-old was cited for bringing a weapon to school in Covington.
School administration at Charger Academy notified law enforcement of a report of a weapon brought to school by a 4th grade student on Wednesday.
The student’s backpack was searched and a pellet gun was found inside.
The 9-year-old’s parents were notified and an investigation was launched.
Covington police reported the findings to Tennessee Homeland Security and further investigation revealed the student made threatening statements on a video call the day before the weapon was brought to school.
The student was cited by Tipton County Juvenile Court for threat of mass violence and carrying a weapon on school property.
