One of Portland’s biggest arts institutions is under new leadership – again .

The Oregon Symphony announced Thursday that Paul Snyder, the current interim president and CEO, will take on the role full time, continuing his efforts to shape a “bold and vibrant future” for the organization.

Snyder, who previously served on the boards of the Portland Opera, Atlanta Opera and the Atlanta Symphony but who most recently worked for the Tillamook County Creamery Association, was hired for the interim role in July.

The previous president and CEO, Isaac Thompson, left over the summer to take on the same job with his hometown Minnesota Orchestra in Minneapolis. Thompson had been leading the Oregon Symphony for less than two years when he left. His predecessor, Scott Showalter, had filled the ro
