Hawaii freshman guard Bailey Flavell drove for the go-ahead layup with 20 seconds remaining and the Rainbow Wahine opened the Bank of Hawaii Classic with a hard-fought 55-51 win over Loyola Marymount today at Bankoh Arena at Stan Sheriff Center.

Hawaii overcame defensive lapses late and a turnover off of an inbounds play with nine seconds remaining that gave the ball back to the Lions.

Andijela Matic missed a 3 from the left wing and Flavell grabbed the rebound and made one of two free throws for a three-point lead.

UH tacked on another free throw for the final margin to improve to 3-0 this season.

Forward Saniyah Neverson scored a team-high 10 points with five rebounds and three assists and made a key 3-pointer late in the fourth quarter.
