PHOENIX (AZFamily) — Phoenix officials highlighted the impact of their summer extreme heat relief campaign on Friday, showing how heat deaths have dropped for the second year in a row, but they also called for more support.
While the final report for summer 2025 isn’t complete yet, numbers from the Maricopa County Department of Public Health show, as of Nov. 1, that 333 deaths from April through October were linked to heat. Another 152 are still under investigation.
At this time last year, there were 470 confirmed heat-related deaths with 185 under investigation. The final report showed 608 heat deaths , a drop from 654 in 2023. It was the first time in a decade that the Valley saw a drop in heat deaths.
