WYTHE COUNTY, Va. (WDBJ) - A Wytheville nonprofit is offering food and hope to local families in need this holiday season.
Hundreds of vehicles lined up at the Open Door Café to get a free Thanksgiving meal box. The nonprofit wants to make sure everyone in the area has a full belly this holiday season.
The free meals supports people like Richard Manner. He said he’s homeless, and wasn’t going to have anything to eat on Thanksgiving, but now he has food and hope.
“It means not being hungry the next day, that’s exactly what it means,” he said, getting ready to pick up his free box.
The Open Door Café opened it’s doors wide on Friday, handing out boxes full of all the holiday meal essentials as well as entire cases of drinks.
