SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (Dakota News Now) - Having voter registration information that is correct is always important, especially in the lead-up to an election year.

Because 2026 is such an important year for the state, the launch of an updated voter registration system that has received a lot of attention recently has been delayed.

The SDVotes system, an upgrade from the TotalVote system, will automate people’s voter registration forms and absentee ballot requests.

“We wouldn’t have to type all of that information in, and so it would speed up the process of getting those forms processed and getting people registered to vote,” Leah Anderson, Minnehaha County Auditor, said.
