AURORA, Colo. (KKTV) - A traffic stop for a missing license plate in Aurora reportedly led to the seizure of several illegally possessed guns last week.
The Aurora Police Department (APD) said officers were in the area of East 16th Avenue and North Paris Street when they spotted a black Mercedes without a front plate around 9 p.m.
When officers pulled behind the Mercedes, APD said the driver quickly turned into a self-serve car wash. Officers contacted those in the vehicle.
While speaking with the back passenger, police said they recognized him as someone who was previously flagged in multiple weapons-related incidents and was tied to a group known for illegal guns and violent crimes.
According to police, they decided to conduct a safety search of the vehicle due to the history as well
