CLOVIS, New Mexico (KFDA) - The City of Clovis is one step closer to acquiring its own racino.
In October, racing commissioners approved a motion granting owners of Sunray Park the opportunity to relocate from Farmington to Clovis.
The racino would feature a 3,000-foot grandstand, over 1,300 barn stalls, and an RV park among other facilities.
Clovis Mayor Mike Morris recently sent a letter of support to the New Mexico racing commission and says this proposed racino would create over 400 year-round jobs, bolstering the city’s economy.
