BBC boss Kate Phillips has issued an update on who will take over as the new hosts of Strictly Come Dancing after Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman made the shocking announcement that they would be exiting the series this year .

Speaking to Richard Osman and Marina Hyde on their The Rest Is Entertainment podcast, Phillips, who serves as Chief Content Officer at the BBC, opened up about the future of Strictly now that Tess and Claudia have decided to leave.

Asked by Osman what happens when an opportunity like hosting Strictly comes up, Phillips said that the search for the new hosts won't start until the New Year.
