FORT HOOD, Texas — Soldiers from Fort Hood distributed over 1,000 Thanksgiving meals to families this November through the post's Thanksgiving basket giveaway.
Thanks to food donations from the Central Texas Food Bank (CTFB), chaplains, ministry teams and other soldiers packed cars with frozen turkeys, potatoes, apples, cranberry sauce, stuffing mix, pie and more during the event on Nov. 20.
Fort Hood said the CTFB originally planned for 600 meals, but due to the lapse in funds during the government shutdown, increased the number to support more families in the Fort Hood community.
