KINGSTON, N.Y. — The trial of Christopher Baldner ended in a hung jury Friday, when jurors declared they were unable to reach a verdict on the sole remaining charge the former state trooper faced for the Dec. 22, 2020, death of 11-year-old Monica Goods.
At 4:12 p.m. on Friday, the nine-man, three-woman jury sent its final note to Ulster County Judge Bryan Rounds, stating that after more than 23 hours of deliberations, they were no closer to a unanimous verdict on the second-degree manslaughter charge Baldner faced than they were on Tuesday.
With “multiple members on both sides,” jurors said they had “exhausted all avenues to reach a unanimous verdict” and remained hopelessly deadlocked.
