SPOKANE, Wash. – Matthew R. Lance, 36, pleaded guilty to five counts of sexual abuse involving children in Spokane County Superior Court on Friday.

The Spokane County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office stated that the abuse began in 2018 and continued for five years. Lance abused children, who were his relatives, starting when they were between six and eight years old.

The charges filed against Lance, to which he pleaded guilty, included child molestation, rape of a child, indecent exposure and communicating with a minor for immoral purposes, in addition to one count of assault.

Judge Tony Hazel sentenced Lance to 189 months to life in prison. Lance will also serve lifetime community custody. He must register as a sex offender for life and adhere to a no contact order with the victims.
