SKOKIE ( 25News Now ) - Gov. JB Pritzker met with members of the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity, as well as other lawmakers, at a local coffee shop in Skokie to announce the latest support for small businesses across the state.

About $10 million from the Small Business Capital and Infrastructure Grant Program will help 47 Illinois businesses.

The grant program, established in 2019, helps qualified businesses with investments like facility improvements, property acquisitions, and equipment upgrades.

The governor added that mom-and-pop shops are a major driving force for the Illinois economy, saying they make up over half of new jobs.
