A tow truck fell onto a road when it was knocked off a highway overpass in Freetown, Massachusetts, Friday evening, killing the driver, police said.

The truck was hit by another vehicle as they headed south on Route 140 about 6 p.m., state police said. The truck was pushed onto an overpass, where it fell onto Washburn Road.

The driver was fatally injured, police said. They haven't publicly identified the person.

The other driver stayed at the scene and wasn't hurt.

Washburn Road was closed as police investigated. Local police shared a detour, using County, Grace and Gurney roads.
