COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) - University of South Carolina Women’s Basketball Coach Dawn Staley hosted a Thanksgiving-themed giveaway Friday ahead of the holiday.

Staley, along with representatives from Netlife and Food Lion, helped give away meal boxes filled with a turkey, stuffing, mac and cheese and yams, among other items, to those in need.

Food Lion Store Manager Derrick Turner said that the group gave away around 150 turkeys in the first hour and that organizers were thankful to be able to give back to the community.

" It means a lot," he said. “You know, we’re all thankful to be in this position where we can collaborate and give back to the community. So it’s just a wonderful, it’s a blessed feeling.”
