The Pirates had a relatively quiet non-tender deadline on Friday, electing to tender contracts to seven of their nine arbitration-eligible players.
Their biggest decisions came earlier this week. On Tuesday, they designated relievers Colin Holderman and Dauri Moreta for assignment, effectively non-tendering them considering they were both arbitration-eligible. On Thursday, the Pirates avoided arbitration and came to contract agreements with outfielder Jack Suwinski and reliever Yohan Ramirez, the two likeliest non-tender candidates.
The Pirates officially non-tendered Holderman, Moreta, Alexander Canario and Ronny Simon on Friday night. All had been designated for assignment on Tuesday. The team also tendered major league contracts to all 31 of its non-arbitration eligible players.
