MINNEAPOLIS — There are mixed messages when it comes to turkey prices heading into Thanksgiving this year.
The most recent projections from the USDA suggest the average wholesale price for frozen turkeys is $1.35 per pound.
That price is significantly higher than the average price last year, which was around 94-cents per pound.
The USDA says turkey production during the first half of 2025 was around 2.33 billion pounds, which is down about 9.7% compared to the same time period last year.
Does that mean turkey is more expensive at the grocery store this year? And that turkeys will be harder to find?
Ashley Kohls with the Minnesota Turkey Growers Association says consumers shouldn't worry, there will be plenty of turkeys to go around and consumers may be surprised by the low prices this
