Rep. Nydia Velázquez announced Thursday night that she won’t seek reelection next year.
She was the first Puerto Rican woman elected to Congress in 1993.
Velázquez was initially elected to represent New York’s 12th District and has now represented New York’s 7th District, spanning Brooklyn and Queens, for the last 12 years.
She joined NY1’s Bobby Cuza on “Inside City Hall” Friday to talk more about her decision and her illustrious career.
