COVINGTON, Ky. —

A community is coming together after a devastating house fire in Covington.

The fire happened last Friday on Garrard Street , leaving one man dead and his family displaced from their home. Advertisement

Multiple other residents managed to escape, and two neighboring houses were evacuated as a precaution, though no damage was reported.

One week after the fire, a neighbor is doing her part to help the family get back on their feet, leading people in Covington to help others in their time of need.

“I know that they are looking at cremation, but even that, for a family that has nothing, can be quite a blow. Anything is helpful. We've had clothing donation, we've had hygiene donation,” Olivia Thomas said.
