The snpink’tn (Penticton) Indian Band has ordered the immediate closure of the section of the former Kettle Valley Railway corridor owned by the Band, stretching from Summerland south to Banbury Green in Kaleden.

The shutdown, effective immediately, applies to all public access after recent heavy rainfall triggered major washouts, slope failures, rockfall and structural instability across multiple areas of the route. Several portions are now severely damaged, impassable and unsafe for any use, creating what the Band calls an unacceptable public-safety risk.
