NEW ORLEANS — As Border Patrol agents prepare to stage in New Orleans this weekend, some church leaders say their congregations are already feeling the impact.

At Our Lady of Guadalupe Church on Rampart Street, Spanish-speaking parishioners have begun skipping services, according to members of the congregation. Mayor-elect Helena Moreno, who attends the church, said the crowd at its Sunday afternoon service has noticeably declined in recent weeks.

“This is not a partisan issue. This is a community issue,” Moreno said.
