The Suquamish Tribe plans to acquire two women’s health clinics next year to alleviate an “OB-GYN desert.”
The tribe will acquire Kitsap OBGYN in January, which will provide improved access to obstetric and gynecological care to the county’s residents.
While this isn’t the first time that the Suquamish Tribe has explored medical care offerings, it marks an expansion in services.
“Expanding our scope of services to include specialized care for women allows us to make progress toward our goal of improving the health of our tribal community, while also providing resources that will benefit the greater region,” said Leonard Forsman, chairman of the Suquamish Tribe, in a statement.
