SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (KY3) - The Mayor’s Tree Lighting Holiday Show , a long-standing tradition of Springfield’s holiday season for nearly two decades, returns to Park Central Square this year.
It’s expected to draw around 2,500 people — possibly more if the forecast-friendly weather holds.
“We anticipate about 2,500 people attending this year. That’s pretty much what it’s grown to. But it may exceed our expectations because the weather will be so nice this year,” said Cora Scott, Public Information Officer and Event Director.
The celebration takes place in and around Park Central Square. Roads around the square and the usual approaches will be closed for the event.
Affected streets include North Booneville, South Avenue. College and Saint Louis Street will also be closed. Scott said she
