SAN PEDRO, LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- A fire erupted on a container ship docked at the Port of Los Angeles in San Pedro, prompting a response from more than 100 firefighters Friday evening.
All 23 crew members have been accounted for and no injuries have been reported, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department. Initially, six people were unaccounted for.
Multiple resources were deployed to battle the blaze. AIR7 was over the scene as fireboats sprayed water on the ship, which was emanating smoke.
The ship's crew initially reported an electrical fire coming from below deck. Just before 8 p.m., an explosion was noted mid-deck that affected power, including lights and crane operations on the ship.
"LAFD continues fire-suppression efforts and is monitoring air quality," L.A. Mayor Bass post
