Shardul Thakur will captain Mumbai in the Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 Trophy, with the 17-member squad also including India T20I skipper Suryakumar Yadav, Sarfaraz Khan, and Shivam Dube.
Mumbai, the defending champions of the competition, won it last year under Shreyas Iyer, who is not part of the current squad that also features Ajinkya Rahane.
Suryakumar was exceptional with the bat for Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, scoring 717 runs with an impressive strike rate of 161.97. However, he has struggled to replicate that form for India this year. In the Asia Cup, he managed only 72 runs in six innings, averaging 18.00. This was followed by the Australia tour, where he scored 84 runs in four T20I innings.
