XNew Delhi: In a move set to reshape Delhi’s social welfare landscape, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Friday laid the foundation stone of the first ‘Atal Canteen’ in Sanjay Basti, Timarpur, marking the launch of a major food-security initiative. The government will operationalise 100 Atal Canteens across Delhi on December 25, on the birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, with each serving fresh, nutritious meals for just Rs.5.
Addressing the gathering, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said it is the government’s unwavering commitment that “no citizen should go to bed hungry.” She added that the initiative reflects the Delhi Government’s dedication to public service in alignment with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of “Garib Kalyan.”
