CINCINNATI —
When families in Adams County and Union Township called 911 this month for help during a mental-health crisis, both situations turned deadly.
While Talbert House, Hamilton County’s 988 provider, cannot comment on those specific cases, leaders say they’re seeing the same trend behind the scenes: more people in distress, and more people reaching out for help before a crisis escalates. Advertisement
Talbert House operates the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline for Hamilton County and serves as a statewide backup center. Staff members are trained to answer calls 24/7 and determine whether someone needs emotional support, resources, or an immediate in-person response from police or a mobile crisis team.
“911 and 988 trade calls back and forth every day,” said Josh Arnold, president
