Proposed tax to benefit Byron-Bergen Public Library fails by a vote

BATAVIA — A proposition before Town of Byron voters to establish an annual tax supporting the Byron-Bergen Public Library’s operations failed by a single vote.

The proposed tax was 55 cents per $1,000 of assessed property value and it would have gone into effect Jan. 1.
