NORFOLK, Va. — Norfolk State guard Elijah Jamison delivered when it mattered most, sinking a clutch free throw with 26 seconds remaining to secure a 62-60 victory over rival Hampton on Friday night at Joe Echols Hall.
Jamison led all Spartans with 18 points and five rebounds, including 11 second-half points and the game-winning shot in the final minute. Anthony McComb III added 13 points as Norfolk State improved to 3-3.
Hampton (2-5) was paced by Daniel Johnson’s 15 points, while Michael Eley added 14 points and two steals. The rivals went into halftime tied 30-30 before Jamison took over down the stretch.
In the women’s matchup earlier in the evening, Hampton stunned Norfolk State 57-55, snapping the Spartans’ 28-game home winning streak, the longest active streak in NCAA Division I.
