A low-pressure area has formed over the South Andaman Sea and adjoining Malacca Strait under the influence of an active cyclonic circulation, the Regional Meteorological Centre said on Saturday. The system is expected to intensify into a depression over the central parts of the South Bay of Bengal by November 24 evening.

According to the Met department, the system may further strengthen over the southwest Bay of Bengal during the subsequent 48 hours while continuing its northwestward movement. It may later intensify into a cyclonic storm depending on sea and atmospheric conditions.

Meanwhile, Odisha is likely to witness dry weather for the next five days, with temperatures expected to rise by 2 to 3 degrees Celsius. However, weather conditions may undergo a significant change next week.
