Members of Scotland's largest community buyout are attempting to force out three members of the board and convert the enterprise into a charity amid a bitter internal feud.
Stòras Uibhist, which is owned by community company Sealladh na Beinne Mòire (SnBM), acquired a 92,000 acre estate in 2006 which covers Eriskay, South Uist and parts of Benbecula, and currently has 893 full members.
All residents of the estate area who are on the electoral roll are eligible to become members of SnBM, which handles the day-to-day responsibilities of the community owned South Uist Estate as well as the planning and implementation of large and small scale development projects within it.
Earlier this year one of the organisation's subsidiaries, South Uist Renewable Energy (SURE), employed Royal Bank
