TWINSBURG, Ohio — Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy overwhelmed Villa Angela-St. Joseph, 42-7, Friday night in the Division III, Region 9 final at Twinsburg High School’s Tiger Stadium, advancing to the state semifinals with a commanding performance on both sides of the ball.
The undefeated Royals (12-0) jumped out to a 21-0 lead in the first half before VASJ (10-2) briefly answered. Joe Efford connected with Ardell Chapman on a 19-yard touchdown pass to cut the deficit, but CVCA responded immediately.
With less than five seconds remaining in the half, quarterback Charley Levak launched a pass toward the end zone that was deflected and caught by DonGino Bickley for a 36-yard touchdown, giving CVCA a 28-7 halftime lead.
