A wedding in Kerala turned into an emotional moment when a couple tied the knot inside the emergency department of a Kochi hospital. Avani, a schoolteacher from Alappuzha, was on her way to get married when she met with a car accident and was rushed to Lakeshore Hospital. Even though she was injured, both families decided not to cancel the ceremony, as the day was considered very special.

Surrounded by doctors, nurses and close relatives, Avani and her fiancé, Sharon VM, an engineering professor, exchanged vows without music, decorations or celebrations. Hospital officials allowed the ceremony after understanding the importance of the day for the couple.
