Few elected roles matter more in our republic than those held by local officials. From mayor and city councilor to county commissioner and sheriff, these jobs deal with the day-to-day issues that affect everyone in our community. For many east Idaho residents, we had the privilege of participating in city elections earlier this month.
I know we may like to talk about national politics. But the real work with an immediate impact happens in our city halls and county courthouses. Local officials do everything from balancing budgets to ensuring the park’s bathrooms work. It takes talented, skilled and hardworking individuals to manage all these demands.
