A Bishop Auckland celebrity has been announced as the first contestant for this year's Strictly Come Dancing Christmas special.

Gogglebox star and I'm a Celebrity winner Scarlett Moffatt will compete in the one-off December 25 festive episode.

The “Strictly megafan” broke the news won Friday’s 'Strictly: It Takes Two', of the dancing competition's BBC2 spin-off .

The presenter will be paired with professional dancer Vito Coppola in the ballroom.

Moffatt said that watching Strictly on Christmas Day has been a family tradition, and now her “little boy Jude gets to then watch his ma”.
