Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena has directed the Delhi Police and the city administration to put in place a series of stricter monitoring and preventive measures, including keeping a database of entities buying or selling ammonium nitrate.
In separate letters issued on November 19 to the police commissioner and the chief secretary, Saxena asked authorities to maintain a digital database of all entities buying or selling ammonium nitrate beyond a specified limit, reported news agency PTI.
The proposed record is to include photographs of both buyers and sellers along with other relevant information. The directive has been issued in the wake of the November 10 explosion near the Red Fort that killed 15 people and injured several others.
