Kuldeep Yadav's three-wicket haul and a late burst from Mohammed Siraj put India slightly ahead at the end of Day 1 of the Guwahati Test. Kuldeep finished with figures of 3 for 48 as the Proteas batters once again failed to capitalise on their starts, especially after the horror show we saw in Kolkata.
At the same time, in the first Test, South Africa were all out and India had lost Yashasvi Jaiswal. In stark contrast to that, the Guwahati pitch showed that it was more fair to both batters and bowlers and ensuring that we get a game that probably goes the full distance.

Tristan Stubbs scored 49 and Temba Bavuma hit 41 as South Africa ended the day on 247 for six as the play came to an end at 4:03 pm as the light faded away in Guwahati.
