CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Police are investigating after one person was shot and killed in south Charlotte early Saturday morning, according to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department.

Around 2 a.m., police were dispatched to the 4800 block of Wallingford Street near West Woodlawn Road. Upon arrival, officers said they located a victim suffering from a gunshot wound.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.

Police said this is an isolated incident and there is no threat to the general public.

The investigation is still in the early stages. Anyone with information is asked to call 704-432-8477 and speak to a Homicide Unit detective.
