LAPEL --“Finally!” exclaimed Brownstown Central coach Reed May Friday night as he bear hugged a well-wisher on the Lapel football field after his team defeated the host Bulldogs 31-21 in a Class 2A semistate game to earn the school their first spot in the state championship game.
May has been coaching the Braves since 1993 and has piled up 326 wins in a hall-of-fame career but perhaps none sweeter than the victory that sent Brownstown Central to Lucas Oil Stadium to face Andrean in the title game next Saturday morning.
