COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) - Anti-abortion protesters returned to Middleburg Plaza on Friday, one week after a shooting outside the Columbia office park near a Planned Parenthood clinic sent a man to the hospital.
According to the Columbia Police Department, one man was shot at the business plaza off Forest Drive. Another person was detained for questioning and later released . No charges have been filed, and the investigation remains open.
The group protesting at the plaza is A Moment of Hope, an evangelical Christian anti-abortion organization that says it offers free pregnancy tests and ultrasounds while encouraging people to choose alternatives to abortion. Its volunteers — who call themselves “sidewalk counselors” — protest regularly outside the plaza entrances.
