DAKOTA CITY, Iowa – A trial date is set for a man and woman from Humboldt County accused of abducting and sexually exploiting an underage victim.
Nathaniel Lee Depew, 37 of Livermore, and Dixie Jean Niles, 37 of Livermore, have pleaded not guilty to human trafficking, first-degree kidnapping, three counts of sexual exploitation of a minor, and three counts of second-degree sexual abuse.
Law enforcement says Depew and Niles picked up a minor from a mental treatment facility in Cedar Rapids on April 18, despite having no legal authority to do so. Court documents state Depew and Niles took their victim to Livermore, sexually assaulted the victim, engaged in an attempted surrogacy scheme using the victim as their surrogate, and visually recorded the sexual abuse of the victim.
