Tucked into the honey-coloured hills of the northern Cotswolds , the picture-postcard village of Broadway has quietly outshone some of Britain’s better-known shopping streets. New research commissioned by American Express’ Shop Small initiative , and carried out with retail analysts GlobalData, ranks Broadway’s long, tree-lined high street among the nation’s top hotspots for independent retailers, coming in fifth on the list and placing it ahead of famous precincts such as The Lanes in Brighton and Magdalene Street in Cambridge .
