It would certainly qualify as a lot for most young players, especially a 21-year-old goalie who has faced just 59 NHL shots.
But talk to Penguins netminder Sergei Murashov for a minute, and it’s pretty obvious that he’s not most young players.
Murashov comes off as exceedingly mature, polite and thoughtful in interview settings. Obviously that’s meaningless if Murashov can’t stop the puck. However, that part has been equally as impressive. If not more so.
With the Penguins in need of a bounce-back performance Saturday against the Kraken — their 5-0 loss to the Wild was about as ugly as a hockey game can get — at PPG Paints Arena, Murashov has a sizable opportunity in front of him.
To change the team’s situation and maybe his own.
“We have a group of professionals here,” Murashov said.
