KAIMUKI (HawaiiNewsNow) - Honolulu firefighters rushed to a Kaimuki home late Friday night after flames tore through the property.

Firefighters say a Kaimuki home went up in flames late last night.

Crews got the call around 9:40 p.m. and found the house on 2nd Avenue fully engulfed in flames.

The man who lives there made it out on his own, but EMS says he was taken to the hospital in serious condition.

Firefighters were able to knock the flames and the fire was fully extinguished at 10:12 p.m.

No injuries were reported, and the Red Cross is helping the homeowner.

Investigators are working to figure out what started it.
