Looking Glass Theatre offered Steinbach audiences a surprise announcement this week, revealing that Hamlet will be part of the company’s upcoming third season. The news was shared during Thursday’s Shakespeare Night, an evening filled with scenes, monologues and character moments from across the works of William Shakespeare.

Co founder Laura Kathleen Turner, who will take on the title role, says the chance to perform Hamlet is something she has been hoping for.

"I am so thrilled, I cannot wait. This is a part that I have wanted to play for a long time."

Turner added that her connection to the role is personal and rooted in performance rather than any wider message.

"It is not a political thing. I just really like this part. I really vibe with this person, and I want to play them."
