Ornella Vanoni has died. The Italian singer, whose career spanned seven decades and was known for hits including Senza Fine and L'appuntamento, died aged 91.
Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni expressed her profound sadness on X Saturday over the loss of Vanoni, whose "unmistakable voice" has left a lasting mark on Italian culture. "Italy loses a unique artist who leaves us with an unrepeatable artistic heritage," Meloni stated.
According to Italian newspaper La Stampa, Vanoni died from cardiac arrest at her home in Milan.
With more than 100 albums recorded and sales exceeding 55 million copies, Vanoni achieved iconic status among fans across generations, earning her the title "The Lady of Italian Song," as reported by LaPresse newspaper.
