CANTON − A pickup truck driver involved in the Nov. 10 crash that killed a Canton Police officer veered into the opposite lane into traffic, according to a crash report.

Canton Police Officer Dave Wolgamott was involved in the accident at 6:53 a.m. while on his way to work. He died shortly after.

The fatal crash occurred in the 800 block of Cherry Avenue SE, a four-lane road. Two vehicles were involved in the crash.

According to the report, a pickup truck was driving south on Cherry Avenue and veered sideways into the northbound lane. Wolgamott was in a car traveling north. The front of his vehicle struck the side of the pickup truck.

The pickup truck driver, a 33-year-old man from Canton, sustained injuries and was transported to Cleveland Clinic Mercy Hospital.
