It's officially respiratory virus season.
Dr. John Goldman, an infectious disease specialist with UPMC, spoke with sister station WGAL on the best steps to protect yourself this season.
Here are some of Dr. Goldman's recommendations.
Wash your hands to prevent the spread of disease.
Get your flu shot — especially if you are over the age of 65.
Get your COVID-19 vaccine — especially if you are over the age of 65.
Call your doctor if you think you have the flu or COVID-19.
If you suspect you have the flu or COVID-19 and feel short of breath, dizzy when you stand up, can't keep food down, or are experiencing confusion, you should go to an emergency room.
Stay home from family gatherings if you feel sick.
